Get to Know Naples, Italy

Thursday February 9, 2006
Naples, Napoli in Italian, is the third most-populated city in Italy and is just a couple hours south of Rome. Naples' close proximity to many interesting sites, such as Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast, makes it a good base for your travels. Besides being on the main train line along the coast, Naples has a great suburban train line, the Ferrovia Circumvesuviana, that will get you to Herculaneum, Pompeii, and Sorrento. Naples is a lively and vibrant city, full of wonderful historical and artistic treasures and narrow, winding streets with small shops, making it worth at least a few days visit. Get to know Naples with our Naples Travel Essentials.

Our Amalfi Coast Map and Travel Information will give you a good overview of the sites south of Naples that are in easy travel distance from Naples. If you're traveling to Naples and the Amalfi Coast, you might also want to consider one of these Guidebooks for the Amalfi Coast and Naples.
