Rome's Piazza Navona

Thursday March 9, 2006
Piazza Navona is one of the most beautiful and lively squares in Rome. Locals and tourists alike flock to Piazza Navona and you often see artists drawing or painting the scene. The square is lined with Baroque palaces and elegant cafes and sports three lavish fountains in its center, the highlight being Bernini's Fontana Dei Fiumi, Fountain of the Rivers. Although the cafes are expensive, it's worth the price if you want to spend some time soaking in the atmosphere while you sip your drink. Piazza Navona is also the place to eat tartufo, a tasty chocolate ice cream dessert. Come along with us for a pictoral Tour of Piazza Navona.

If you'd prefer to spend a little less money on your ice cream break, head to the Trevi Fountain and try what many people say is the best gelato in Rome. Here you won't find a seat but you will enjoy a great cup of gelato, Italian ice cream.
