Puglia - The Heel of Italy's Boot

Friday March 10, 2006
Apulia, or Puglia in Italian, is the region of Italy commonly called the heel of the boot. The heel is really the Salento peninsula in southern Italy bordering the Adriatic Sea. Since the region is very narrow, much of Puglia is coastline. Puglia is one of the regions less visited by travelers to Italy but has a lot to offer, including beaches, good wine and olive oil, and interesting towns. Puglia is home to Italy's newest national park and truilli, conical houses unique to this region. Learn more about Puglia with our Gallery of Travel Planning Maps of the Puglia Region. The gallery includes a map of places to visit, a geographical relief map, and a map with train travel times.
