Leonardo da Vinci Exhibits in Italy
Sunday March 12, 2006
There are several interesting exhibits featuring Leonardo da Vinci opening in Italy this spring. Milan's Castello Sforzesco will host an exhibit of designs, sketches, notes, and ideas from Leonardo's Codex Trivulzianus normally only accessible to scholars, March 24-May 21. Florence's Uffizi Gallery will have an exhibit on Leonardo called The Mind of Leonardo, the Universal Genius at Work, March 28-January 7, 2007. Turin's Biblioteca Reale is currently showing 56 of his works, mainly drawings, as well as a wooden crucifix by Michelangelo. Also in Turin you can see a parchment believed to contain the earliest cartography of the Greek-Roman era, the first century BC Papyrus of Artemidorus, at Palazzo Bricherasio.
