Casa Rossa - Memories of Puglia

Wednesday March 22, 2006
I'm reading an interesting novel, Casa Rossa (compare prices), that takes place in Rome and Puglia, the southern Italian region known as the heel of the boot. I spent a summer in Puglia working on an archaeological survey and the book brings back fond memories of this less-touristy region.

Puglia is a different part of Italy than the common tourist destinations of Rome, Florence, and Venice. Here you will get a real feel for southern Italian life. There are plenty of beautiful cities, coastline, interesting sites, and good Italian food to make an enjoyable vacation. So if you've been to Italy's top cities, why not try something new? Check out our Puglia Travel Maps with suggestions on where to go in Puglia as well as train times and geography. For more information on Puglia, go to our Puglia Travel Resources. There's even a fabulous-sounding cooking school if you'd like to learn some Italian cooking on your vacation.
