Rome celebrates its 2,758th birthday on April 21. Rome was founded in 753 BC and April 21 is denoted by historians as being the date of the founding. There will be parades and special events throughout the city of Rome on Friday.
Venice celebrates on April 25 with the Festival of San Marco, honoring the patron saint of Venice. The main celebrations will take place in the famous square of San Marco, starting with a huge procession to San Marco Basilica. If you're in Venice, don't forget to give your loved one a rose as is the Venetian custom on April 25.
