Italian Opera Summer Programs

Friday April 21, 2006
Summer is the time for enjoying opera and concerts in the outdoor theater venues. Two of the best places for outdoor opera are the Arena di Verona and the Baths of Caracalla in Rome. This summer's program in Verona will include 10 performances of the opera Carmen. The Arena di Verona is a beautiful setting for enjoying opera and other outdoor musical concerts.

Although the Italian opera season is fall through spring, many opera houses hold theater and dance performances during the summer to help with expenses. Italy has a wealth of beautiful, historic opera houses, and attending a live performance is a great way to see them and experience Italy's cultural heritage.

Our Top Ten Opera Houses in Italy has information about some of the best indoor theaters and the outdoor theaters in Verona and Rome. The page includes link to each so you can check out the summer schedules and where to buy tickets. It's a good idea to buy your tickets ahead of time to avoid disappointment.

There are links for each opera house in the article. You can find the schedules by looking at the opera houses that interest you. I don’t see anything listed at La Fenice in Venice for the dates you will be there. La Scala in Milan will have the opera Ariadne auf Naxos by Richard Strauss on June 16.
