Italy Train Travel

Friday April 21, 2006
Train travel in Italy is fairly inexpensive and efficient. Traveling by train is a great way to visit Italy's top cities. Italy's extensive train system makes traveling between cities easy. Trains make for relaxing travel. You can use the time to read about your next travel destination before you arrive or just enjoy the scenery. It's a good way to experience Italian life and maybe meet other travelers, too. We have Tips for Italy Train Travel to help you get ready for riding the rails in Italy. You also might want to look at the Map of Italy's train routes from Europe for Visitors to help with planning your trip.

I love travelling on Italian trains . .as you say, they can be very friendly, and a good way of mixing with all kinds of people.

One little hint . .unlike British railway stations which have multiple displays of their name, along the platforms, Italian stations tend to have only one sign displaying the station name, usually just outside the platform you arrive at.

It’s a good idea to keep an eye on your arrival time (to alert you to the approaching station). On-board announcements are not always very clear.
