Cafe Life Rome and Florence

Saturday May 13, 2006

joe wolff picture If you're traveling to Italy, you'll probably want to enjoy some Italian cafe life. In Italy, a bar is the equivalent of a cafe. You'll go there for your morning coffee and pastry, your gelato in the afternoon, and your apertif before dinner. Some bars even serve food at lunch. Travelers to larger cities in Italy such as Rome and Florence, often worry about the price of sitting outside at a bar or cafe in a touristy area as it can be very costly.

Joe Wolff and Roger Paperno traveled to Rome and Florence searching for small, family-run cafes where you can enjoy yourself without worrying about being overcharged. Doesn't that sound like the ideal job? You can read about their cafe recommendations in their two books, Cafe Life Rome and Cafe Life Florence. The books give detailed descriptions of the cafes and include beautiful photos by Roger Paperno. Their next stop - Venice.
