Rome Popular Travel Destination for Americans

Monday May 29, 2006
Rome's Piazza NavonaAccording to a survey of American Express Travel agents, Rome, Italy, is the second most popular international travel destination for US families in 2006.

Today's Rome is a vibrant and lively city with reminders of its past everywhere. Rome has something for everyone. In Rome you'll encounter Ancient Rome, medieval and Renaissance buildings and fountains, interesting neighborhoods, and great museums. You'll also find a variety of good restaurants, cafes, and nightlife. Take a look at our Rome 3-Day Itinerary to get you started, but spending a week or more in Rome would really let you experience all Rome has to offer.

A reader in our Forum says, ". . . can't decide on Rome or Venice, or could I do both in a weeks time? If I can only go to one city which do you recommend for a first time married couple traveling to Europe?" Give your opinion.
