la scala pictureMilan, one of Italy's most stylish and modern cities, has a rich artistic and cultural heritage. Its Duomo, with its beautiful marble facade, is the largest Gothic Cathedral in the world. La Scala is one of Italy's top opera houses. There's even a castle, Castello Sforzesco, right downtown. From Milan's main train station, Milano Centrale, you can walk to all the places in our Milan Picture Gallery.

Milan is also the home of Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece, The Last Supper. If you plan to see the painting, be sure to book ahead. We have the information you need in Visiting the Last Supper.

Milan is in the northern Italy region of Lombardy, near the northern Italian Lakes district. Milan's large international airport, Malpensa, makes it a convenient travel destination in Italy. Check how far Milan is from other cities with our Italy City Distance Calculator and Map and read more about Milan in our Milan Travel Essentials.
