Summer Music Festivals in Italy
Monday July 3, 2006
Summer is a great time for outdoor music and performing arts festivals all over Italy. You'll find music not only in big cities, but even in small towns such as Panicale. When we stayed there for 2 weeks a few years ago there was music in the main piazza once a week. If you're traveling to Rome, one of the best places to go at night is Castel Sant' Angelo, where there will be a variety of entertainment every evening through August 15. I'll be heading there next week when I visit Rome. I'll also be going to Jazz on a Tuscan Summer Evening, Respite Italia's summer fund raiser, on July 23. We have information about these events and a few of the big summer performing arts festivals in our July Music Festivals.
Opera fans won't want to miss a chance to see opera in some spectacular outdoor settings during the summer. Two of the best places for outdoor opera are Rome and Verona - they're in our Top Italian Opera Houses.

Will you please email me about the Urbino Jazz Fest in June 2009?
I will be staying in Lucca from June 13 to July 4 and would like to know about music festivals while I’m there. (especially Jazz)
Thank you,
Lori
I’m sorry but I don’t have any information about a jazz festival in Urbino and Urbino is not very close to Lucca. Umbria Jazz is in Perugia during July but later than your dates. Florence has a summer music festival with events going on in June. Here’s the web site but it’s not updated yet for 2009.
