Benigni reads Dante in Florence

Thursday July 20, 2006
From July 25th to August 19th, you can see Roberto Benigni performing Tutto Dante in Florence's Piazza Santa Croce. Roberto Benigni is known for his movie La Vita E Bella, Life is Beautiful. Roberto will narrate the first 10 canti of Dante's Divine Comedy and 3 parts of the Last Paradise in 13 different performances and best of all, add his comments. It's sure to be a great show. Tickets for individual performances are 15-25 euros.

Roberto Benigni also starred in several comedies including The Monster and Pinocchio. Speaking of Pinocchio, I visited the Pinocchio Park in Collodi in Tuscany near Lucca. If you're traveling in Italy with kids, Pinocchio Park is a great place to visit, especially if your children are familiar with the story. As you walk through the park, you come to various statues depicting characters in the story. You can even venture inside the whale's mouth. There's also a play area, a few rides, and a theater where children join in the performances. And for you parents, while your children enjoy the theater you can check your email in the internet train. A great idea.
