Top Ten Churches to Visit in Rome

Friday July 21, 2006
St. Peter's Church in Vatican CityRome's churches hold fantastic art treasures of the Renaissance and Middle Ages and are well worth visiting. I used to shy away from churches but now I find going inside fascinating. While Rome has many beautiful churches worth a visit, here are Rome's Top 10 Churches for you to see.

Even though churches are open to tourists, usually for free, they are still being used as churches and ask that you visit respectfully and quietly. Some churches will not allow entrance to people wearing shorts or sleeveless tops so be sure to dress accordingly. Most churches allow you to take pictures inside, although some parts may be off limits to photography.

You'll come across churches everywhere in Rome so while you're enjoying some of Rome's ancient ruins, a walk around Piazza Navona, or the best gelato in Rome, be sure to visit at least one church.
