Mt. Etna Erupts in Sicily

Saturday November 25, 2006
Mt. Etna, Europe's most active volcano, spewed ash 5,000 meters high yesterday causing one of Sicily's airports to close temporarily overnight. According to ANSA Italian news online, no residents are in danger from the current eruption but people in Catania, one of Sicily's largest cities, were using umbrellas to keep themselves from being coated with ash. Take a look at the news article for a good picture of Mount Etna's current eruption or check out details of previous eruptions along with some specatucular pictures on this volcano web site.
