About 500,000 artifacts have been uncovered during a 3-year excavation of a patrician villa in the northern Italy region of Lombardy, according to Italy-news, Some of the artifacts are believed to be part of Emperor Nero's treasure trove that he assembled from all over the Roman empire before his death in 68 AD.

Nero's successor, Emperor Vespasian, is believed to have wiped out all traces of Nero including Nero's extravagant Golden House, building the Roman Colosseum on its grounds. Part of Nero's Golden House is open for guided tours.
