Get to Know Siena - A Hill Town in Tuscany

Siena's Piazza del Campo travel picture Siena is a pretty medieval hill town in Tuscany famous for its large fan-shaped piazza, Piazza del Campo, and Siena's famous summer horse-race, Il Palio di Siena. The impressive Duomo of Siena has a black and white facade and the Torre del Mangia, 102 meters tall, is the second highest medieval bell tower in Italy.

Siena is a popular Tuscany vacation destination 60km south of Florence near the center of the Tuscany region (Tuscany map). Between Siena and Florence lies the Chianti Wine Region.
