Brits Select Cinema Paradiso as Best Film
What's your all time favorite Italian movie? The Brits, who've been buying up Italian property like crazy, have decided that Oscar-winning Italian movie Cinema Paradiso is the best foreign film of all time. Cinema Paradiso is the story of a young Sicilian boy's
love for the movies and his friendship with the projectionist at the local theater.
Critics, of course, are outraged, citing a plethora of more meaningful Italian cinematic fare. Yet a majority of the British stand firm on these touching, feel-good tales, selecting Il Postino over Fellini's La Dolce Vita.
But there's often a difference between movies that make you want to pull up stakes and move to a location and movies that give you a great insight into the politics and social problems of an age. We've put together a list of our favorite Italian movies on innexpensive DVDs for you. We call it: Best Italian Films to Get You in the Mood for an Italian Vacation. There's still room for your favorite on the list. Got one? Use the comments link below to post your best mood-setting Italian films, and tell us why you like them.
