Cats and Culture Tour of Italy

Wednesday July 18, 2007
Friends of Roman Cats is offering another very special Cats and Culture Italian tour for those people who love both Italy and cats. We will meet in Venice on October 6th, 2007. For the next 11 days we will visit both Italy's cultural, historical treasures and some special sites where cats live in historic ruins, gardens and sanctuaries. For more information visit our website - Friends of Roman Cats. Submitted by Susan Wheeler

The Friends of Roman Cats is a nonprofit organization. Their website offers some great information on the very best places to find cats in Rome (and do some Rome sightseeing at the same time).

Torre Argentina picture One of the best places to see Roman cats and an Ancient Roman site is the Torre Argentina Cat Sanctuary, where feral cats are fed and housed. While you can't enter the Torre Argentina archaeological site, you can walk around it and view it free of charge. Julius Ceasar was assassinated in 44 BC in Rome at the Portico of Pompeii, now part of the Torre Argentina archaeological site, shown in the picture. Click on the picture to see it larger.
