Thursday August 2, 2007
Sign for Sagra delle Anguille in TuscanyAugust is a great time to enjoy a small town sagra (sagra definition) or festa almost anywhere in Italy. August 15, Ferragosto or Assumption Day, is a national holiday. Although most shops will be closed, as usual Italy celebrates with festivals, music, and food.

Here's a sampling of August Festivals in Italy, from the second race for the palio in Siena to seaside festivals and music events.
