August Festivals in Italy
August is a great time to enjoy a small town sagra (sagra definition) or festa almost anywhere in Italy. This weekend we have five from which to choose within 10km of our house. As you travel in Italy watch for signs like the one on the right telling you about local events. You'll probably find good, inexpensive food and maybe music or other entertainment as well.
August 15, Ferragosto or Assumption Day, is a national holiday. Although most shops will be closed, as usual Italy celebrates with festivals, music, and food.
Here's a sampling of August Festivals in Italy, from the second race for the palio in Siena to seaside festivals and music events.
