Urbino - Renaissance Gem in Central Italy
Urbino is a picturesque Renaissance hill town and the capital of central Italy's Marche region (see Marche Map). Urbino sees fewer visitors than nearby Tuscany's hill towns due to its more remote location.
Urbino's historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and its impressive Ducal Palace houses one of the most important collections of Renaissance paintings in Italy. Urbino is surrounded by spectacular countryside and small towns worth visiting such as Urbania, known for its hand made ceramics, and Sant'Angelo in Vado, known for its fall truffle fair.
