Sardinia has one of World's Sexiest Beaches

Caprera Island, Sardinia, is Concierge.com's second pick for World's Sexiest Beaches 2007. Caprera Island is near Costa Smeralda, Sardinia's exclusive northeast coast and a favorite haunt of the rich and famous. Caprera was also the start of the 2007 Giro d'Italia bike race in honor of Garibaldi who retired and died there. Read more about it in Europe Travel. The island is part of the national park area so there are no hotels, but according to Concierge.com you can stay in a hotel a 15-minute boat ride away for a mere $2750 a night.

If that's a little above your price range, Sardinia has many beautiful, clean beaches along other parts of its coast. One of my favorites is Tharros, near Oristano. Although not as sexy, it has evocative Roman ruins right on the beach. Sardinia is also home ot one of my favorite hotels, Su Gologone, at the foot of the mountains.
