Suggestions for Travel Between Naples and Rome
Friday April 4, 2008
Nancy Parode, about.com's guide to Senior Travel, has some suggestions for off the beaten track places to visit in southern Italy's Campania and Lazio regions between Naples and Rome.
If you have never driven north on the SS-7 quater road north from Naples, it's an interesting trip once you pass Mondragone. I used to live in the hills above Formia, so I've gone that way often. There's a good winery right on the road in Cellole, a couple of places you can see the ancient Via Appia, and the Villa of Tiberius past Gaeta on the Via Flacca (SS-213)...plus Sperlonga, one of my favorite beach towns, a little farther north.
For information about the winery and more suggestions, read Nancy's Wine Travel in Campania, Italy.
