Driving to France from Cuneo, Italy

Saturday May 24, 2008
There are several possible routes to take when traveling between Italy and France. My favorite, and the one we took a few days ago, is the route from Cuneo, an interesting town in the southern Piedmont region of Italy (see Piedmont map).

Leaving Cuneo, one travels through small picturesque villages and beautiful natural scenery through the Maritime Alps into France. At this time of year, there are waterfalls, abundant wildflowers, and patches of snow at the higher elevations.

This year's Tour de France includes a stage over the Maritime Alps and a rest day in Cuneo.

Find out more about Cuneo in our Cuneo Travel Guide and read about the mountains near Cuneo in Skiing in Piedmont.
