Scenic Via Krupp Reopens on Capri
Via Krupp was designed by industrialist Krupp and built in 1902 to connect the town of Capri to the sea. The scenic road winds down the hill from Capri's Augustus Gardens to Marina Piccola on the sea. It's been closed since 1976 but has been restored and is now open to the public according to The Mercury News.
From the panoramic terrace of the Augustus Gardens, Giardini Augusto, there are spectacular views of Via Krupp, the sea, the famous Faraglioni rock formations, and Monte Tuoro. See more of Italy's enchanting island of Capri in our Capri Picture Gallery.
For a look at Capri in the movies, see It Started in Naples (compare prices), a 1960 movie starring Sophie Loren and Clark Gable that takes place almost entirely on Capri.
