Tuscia Summer Music Festivals

Tuesday July 15, 2008
Italy offers many opportunities for summer music festivals from free local performances in the piazza to opera and music in a Roman amphitheater in Verona or Roman baths in Rome (see Italian Opera Houses for details).

tuscia opera italy travel pictureThe Tuscia Opera Festival, north of Rome, is a great chance to experience opera in a historic outdoor venue without paying a huge price. Pictured is Tuscia Opera Festival's 2007 opening night set against the background of the Papal Palazzo in Viterbo, where the first conclave was held in 1261 (click on the photo to see it larger). The 2008 Tuscia Opera Festival runs through September 6.

Also in the region, Tuscia in Jazz runs July 19 - August 3. Music is held in the piazza of a small, historic town and best of all, it's free. Now that's a way to stretch your travel dollar. Read more about Tuscia in Jazz and see a few photos on Italian Notebook.
