Venice Film Festival 2008

Monday August 11, 2008
Venice's acclaimed international film festival starts later this month so if you're traveling to Venice, keep an eye out for celebrities. The Venice Film Festival is one of the world's oldest and largest international film festivals. It includes films competing for the Golden Lion Award, screenings of out-of-competition films, short films, and new trends in cinema. This year's festival, the 65th annual, includes a series of retrospective screenings, These Phantoms: Italian Cinema Rediscovered (1946 – 1975).

The 2008 film festival runs August 27-September 6 with passes starting at 130 euro (discounts for under 26 and over 60) and single tickets costing 8-28 euro. 21 films will compete for the coveted Golden Lion award which was won in 2007 by Ang Lee's thriller Lust, Caution (compare prices).

Following Venice, international film festivals are held in Milan and Rome. Get details about the Venice film festival and other upcoming festivals in International Film Festivals in Italy.
