Mantova Becomes UNESCO World Heritage Site
The northern Italian city of Mantova, or Mantua, is the latest Italian city to join the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites. Mantova is a beautiful, historic city surrounded on three sides by lakes. Piazza del'Erbe, Mantova's central piazza, is one of my favorites in all of Italy - it's a lively square where both locals and visitors congregate. There are many cafes and several great restaurants in and around the piazza. In 2005 Mantova was named Italy's most livable city.

What a splendid old-world city. I’d love to visit there. Interestingly its alternate name, Mantua, is shared by a brand of model railroad train.
