Visiting the Padre Pio Shrine in Italy

Wednesday September 3, 2008
More than seven million visitors a year travel to the Padre Pio shrine and Santa Maria delle Grazie Church in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy. The body of Padre Pio, who was declared a saint in 2002, has been on display in the church since spring 2008 and since then even more pilgrims have flocked to the church, making it one of the top Catholic pilgrimage shrines in the world.

San Giovanni Rotondo is in the Puglia region of southern Italy (see Puglia map). Find out more about the Padre Pio shrine, how to get to San Giovanni Rotondo, and where to stay in Visiting the Padre Pio Shrine.
