Visiting Sardinia
This week I'm off to Sardinia or Sardegna, the second largest island in the Mediterranean. Sardinia has outstanding beaches, interesting culture, unusual stone towers known as nuraghi, and a wide variety of scenery as you travel through the countryside. Traditions are still kept alive in many parts of Sardinia, too. I fell in love with the island of Sardinia when I spent five summers working there as part of an archaeological project in the 1980's and am looking forward to revisiting the island.
