October is Italian American Heritage Month

October is National Italian American Heritage Month in the United States, according to Michael San Filippo, about.com's guide to Italian Language. He says "there are over 26 million Americans of Italian descent in the United States, making them the fifth largest ethnic group."

Many cities in North America have an Italian American neighborhood you can visit and there are Italian American Festivals and Italian Film Festivals throughout the year.
