Belluno Ranked Highest for Eco-system

Thursday October 16, 2008
City rankings based on eco-systems are done each year by Lega Ambiente and include such things as air quality, recycling, and bicycle paths. Belluno ranked number one in the 2008 report, according to Wanted in Rome. Belluno, in the Veneto region of northern Italy, is about 50 miles north of Venice and is a gateway to the Dolomite mountains.

Siena, a popular hill town in the heart of Tuscany, ranked number 2 this year. Parma, famous for Parma ham and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, came in fifth. Parma, with an interesting compact historic center, is one of my favorite cities for walking (and eating).
