Pictures of Via San Gregorio Armeno - Street of Nativity Shops in Naples

Thursday November 20, 2008
naples nativity scene pictureVia San Gregorio Armeno in Naples, often called the street of nativity workshops, is lined with artisan nativity workshops and tiny store fronts selling nativity scenes, terracotta figurines, and Neapolitan souvenirs. Even if you're not interested in buying nativity items it's a fun street to walk on and gives you a good look at the old part of Naples. Take a look at our pictures of Via San Gregorio Armeno. There's also a couple pictures of the nativity scene in Santa Chiara Church in the old town of Naples.

Nativity scenes, presepi in Italian, are a very important part of Christmas in Italy. Almost every church and house has one and there's often one erected in a town's central piazza. A nativity scene often includes lots more than just the Christmas crib and some even include replicas of the entire town including its inhabitants. Here's more about Italian Nativity Scenes and Christmas in Italy.
