Rome is the most popular travel destination in Italy but while many tourists travel north of Rome, far fewer venture south. Naples and the Amalfi Coast are the most popular southern Italy destinations but Southern Italy has unusual sights that you won't find in the north like the well-preserved Greek temples at Paestum, the sassi or cave city of Matera (where you can stay in a cave hotel), and the cone-shaped houses called truilli (see trulli pictures) in Puglia.

Puglia’s Castel del Monte, an octagonal castle built by Frederick II, is another great stop. The closest large city is Bari.
Southern Italy has a number of interesting castles. I’ll be sure to check out your castle suggestion when I’m in Puglia, hopefully this spring.
Yeah, Italy has a number of castle I look forward visiting. Rome is perhaps the my most desired place if ever I go there. I can even recall Recall Rome as a significant place for middle age history.
Yes, Rome was prominent in all eras of history, including the middle ages. Some of Rome’s churches were built in the middle ages and Roman ruins were sometimes used in the middle ages, too. You’ll see all eras of history in Rome.
Thanks for information , This castle is like Turkey ancient castles , interesting.
Rome is stunning. I think for most people who visit Italy, it is a toss up of which is the more beautiful to visit… Rome or Venice! They are both fascinating places in their own right and both rich in history and culture.
