Mount Vesuvius a Finalist for New Seven Wonders of Nature

The contest for the new seven wonders of nature has narrowed the field to 28 finalists. Included on the list is Mount Vesuvius, a volcano in southern Italy famous for its eruption in 79AD that buried nearby Roman towns such as Pompeii. Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii can easily be visited as day trips from Naples or Sorrento.
