A special exhibit in Florence's Medici Chapels through October on Ferdinand I de' Medici, third grand duke of Tuscany, marks the 400th anniversary of his death. Several interesting themed exhibits in Italy, running through September or October, caught my eye on ANSA:
- Archeology, 20 years of Florence University digs in Jordan is on display in Florence's Pitti Palace until October 11.
- Futurism, 100 Years, 100 Manifestos is on display in Naples at Palazzo Reale through October.
- Jewels are featured in Bulgari, Between Eternity and History, 1884-2009; 125 Years of Italian Jewels at Rome's Palazzo delle Esposizioni through September 13.
- Mummies from around the world are still on display with Otzi the Ice man in the Alto Adige Archaeology Museum (see Mummies Travel to Italy).
- Stolen Kisses is a special exhibit in Gradara Castle (see Marche map), the spot where Dante's doomed lovers kissed. 18th century paintings of lovers include Paolo and Francesca, Romeo and Juliet, and Lancelot and Guinevere.
