San Gennaro Festival in Naples and the US
On September 19, thousands of people fill the Naples Cathedral and square for the feast day of San Gennaro, patron saint of Naples, hoping to see the saint's blood liquefy. In addition to the main event, processions and celebrations go on for eight days. In the United States, the San Gennaro festival was originally celebrated by immigrants from Naples, but today it's a popular festival in both New York and Los Angeles.
