Orsoni Mosaic Art Prize 2009
Orsoni Mosaics Foundry in Venice announces the Orsoni Prize 2009 winners in their International Award for Mosaic Fine Art. Each year Orsoni Mosaics Foundry holds a mosaic arts contest with a Grand Prize of Euro 1,000 and a trip to Venice for a Master in Mosaic workshop at Orsoni taught by maestra Antonella Gallenda, creator of the Peggy Guggenheim mosaic portrait shown in the photo. This year's Grand Prize winner, Julie Richey, also leads a Rome mosaics tour.
Orsoni Foundry is one of the top producers of mosaic tiles and the glass used to make them. Orsoni holds one-week mosaic courses and it's possible to tour the interesting foundry by prior arrangement. You can also stay at their B&B, Domus Orsoni Bed and Breakfast, decorated with mosaics.
