Lecce, Baroque City in Puglia

Friday September 18, 2009

Lecce, in southern Italy's Puglia region, is a small but interesting city with a good collection of Baroque churches and monuments and remains of a Roman theater and amphitheater. Lecce is easily reached by train and makes a good base for exploring southern Puglia. You'll probably find lower prices and fewer tourists than in bigger, more popular Italian cities so it makes a good budget, off-the-beaten-track destination.
