Have you ever dreamed of making beautiful mosaic artworks or studying art in Venice? Orsoni Mosaic Foundry in Venice offers a variety of mosaic courses including thematic classes and master in mosaics. Classes range from three days to two weeks. New for 2011 is a two-week class, Decorative Patterns for Interior and Exterior Design.
Workshop participants stay at Domus Orsoni bed and breakfast, in the former Orsoni family residence next to the foundry where they have 24 hour access to the mosaic studio. Orsoni is in Venice's Cannaregio sestiere (see Venice Sestiere map), one of my favorite parts of Venice and a place where you can get away from the tourist crowds. Orsoni Mosaic Foundry, started in 1888, is a top producer of smalti (the fused, colored and opaque glass that is cut into tesserae for mosaic art) and handcrafted gold mosaic.
