Hot springs on the island of Ischia have been popular since ancient times and the water is believed to be the most radioactive in Europe, making the thermal springs good for a variety of health treatments. Resorts and thermal parks have been built around many of the hot springs to use the healing waters in their spas. Several of the island's thermal resorts and spas are open to the public for day use and can be visited as a day trip from the Amalfi Coast or Naples by ferry. For those who don't want to go to the spa, the island has charming towns and good beaches and sees fewer tourists than nearby Capri.
