Ventimiglia is a pleasant town on the Italian Riviera, near the border of France. It makes a less-expensive and more relaxed alternative to nearby resort towns like Sanremo. There's a nice seaside promenade with seafood restaurants, beaches, Roman ruins and a good view of Menton, France. Ventimiglia Alta, the old medieval town on the hill, has several surprises such as the unusual Oratorio dei Neri. One of the highlights of our visit was the spectacular sunset seen from our hotel balcony, Suitehotel Kaly.
