Cinque Terre Hiking Trails - Fall 2012 Update

By , About.com GuideOctober 19, 2012

Follow me on:

cinque terre pictures, vernazza picturesThe popular blue or number 2 hiking trail (shown on this map) that connects the five picturesque seaside villages known as Cinque Terre is currently closed due to landslides in late September. Therefore the Cinque Terre card normally required to access the trail is not being sold at this time.

Although the number 2 trail is the most popular Cinque Terre hiking trail, there are other good trails that remain open. You can see a list of open trails, with distances and average times to walk the trail going (A) and returning (R), on the Cinque Terre National Park web site. A blue dot designates an easy path, green is medium difficulty, and yellow is for experts. Those marked with a red dot are currently closed, check back on the site for updates.

Take a virtual visit with our Cinque Terre photos or plan your stay in one of these Cinque Terre Accommodations.
