Acqua alta, or high water, in Venice is usual at this time of year but recent heavy rain has caused high tide levels above normal with flooding in much of the city. Wooden walkways have been erected but sight-seeing is difficult in places like the popular Saint Mark's Square, where people have been swimming and kayaking. I've shared a couple of photos on our Facebook page.
