Southern Italy's Puglia region is on Wine Enthusiast Magazine's list of 10 Best Wine Travel Destinations 2013. Puglia, known as the heel of the boot, is known primarily for its Primitivo red wine, similar to Zinfandel, Negroamaro, and Nero di Troia. Most of the wine production is red but some good, crisp whites can be found also.
Puglia is one of the top places to go in Southern Italy. While tasting wine is one highlight, the region is also known for its beaches, food, picturesque towns, and the unique trulli of Alberobello, a Southern Italy UNESCO World Heritage Site.
