Vernazza, a Cinque Terre village that was closed due to the fall 2011 floods, is on the New York Time's list of 46 Places to Go in 2013. Most places in Vernazza have re-opened and the village is ready to receive visitors. Vernazza can be reached by train or ferry and is linked to the other Cinque Terre villages via the popular blue hiking trail. The Cinque Terre are in la Spezia province on northern Italy's west coast - you can see the location on our Italian Riviera map.
Vernazza was the only Italian destination to make the list this year while the 2012 list including two places in Italy.
