April 25 is a national holiday in all of Italy celebrating Liberation Day, the anniversary of Italy's liberation in WW II. But in Venice it's also the day of two other important festivals.

St. Mark's feast day is one of Venice's most important festivals since St. Mark, or San Marco, is the patron saint of Venice. To celebrate there's a procession to the basilica and festival in St. Mark's Square, Piazza San Marco.

For the traditional Festa del Bocolo, Veniceword says - gentlemen don't forget to give your loved one or mother or daughter a red rose in memory of two unlucky lovers centuries ago whose memory still lives on in Venice.
