Best Western Hotel Palladio in Bassano del Grappa

The 4-star Best Western Hotel Palladio is well located in a quiet neighborhood a short walk from the historic center of Bassano del Grappa. From some of the rooms, there are very nice views of Monte Grappa (see photo). Hotel Palladio, part of the Best Western hotel chain, is similar to many Best Western Hotels where you may have stayed in the United States.

Rooms at Hotel Palladio are spacious and have nice, modern bathrooms. Room furnishings are basic and a little outdated but functional. In the bathroom are bathrobes and slippers, a hair dryer, and toiletries. Rooms have coffee and tea making facilities (uncommon in Italy), mini-bar, television, and internet connection that worked well. An adequate buffet breakfast is included with the room.

While there's no restaurant in the hotel, a short walk away is its sister hotel, Bonotto Hotel Belvedere (book direct), with an excellent restaurant. Nuovo Belvedere serves well-prepared regional and Italian dishes and is a Buon Ricordo restaurant. If you order the restaurant's special regional dish, you'll get a souvenir plate to take home. Bread, pasta, and desserts are homemade at the restaurant and fresh, seasonal ingredients are used.

Why Stay in Bassano del Grappa

Bassano del Grappa, on the Brenta River, makes a great base for visiting the often overlooked Veneto region (see Veneto map). People often say that Bassano del Grappa is one of the most beautiful places in Italy. The symbol of the town is its wooden bridge and the historic center has several lively squares, historic monuments, museums, and interesting churches. Find out more in our Bassano del Grappa Travel Guide.

There's much more to the Veneto than just Venice as you will see by spending a few days outside the city. Near Bassano del Grappa you can visit the Venetian villas built by the famous Renaissance architect Palladio, charming medieval towns and castles, grappa distilleries, and Monte Grappa.

The Bottom Line

Although the hotel is not fancy or charming, I was comfortable during my stay and everything was adequate. The location is very good and it was an easy walk to the center of town and to the Nuovo Belvedere Restaurant. The hotel was easy to drive to, had plenty of free parking, and was in a quiet location. I'd recommend this hotel for a stay in Bassano del Grappa.
