Cagliari, on the southern coast of Sardinia, has one of Italy's top fish markets. Its central covered market, Mercato di San Benedetto, has one whole floor filled with fish stalls and another with meats and produce. There's a huge variety of fish, fresh from the sea, including some you might not have seen before.
As in many Italian cities, the central market or mercato centrale is a great place to find the freshest food. You can stock up on picnic items, see local foods, and learn a few food words in the central market.
