Capri Pictures: Boats in front of the Blue Grotto on Capri

Martha Bakerjian
The Blue Grotto, Grotta Azzurra, is Capri's top tourist attraction. It's the most fascinating of the island's many caves. Inside the water is an unusual iridescent blue color.

To enter the Blue Grotto, it's necessary to go by guided row boat (euro 10 in May 2008). Row boats are available outside the entrance to the grotto.

Boats from Marina Grande (euro 11 in May 2008) take tourists to the inlet outside the cave entrance where they can transfer into the row boats.

For those preferring to arrive by land, there's a parking area above the inlet where tourists can arrive by bus, taxi, or car. From there it's a short walk down the stairs to the waiting area for the row boats. It's also possible to walk from Anacapri. In my opinion, it's easier to enter the row boats from the landing platform than from another boat.
